College Years

August 17, 2016

With the first day of freshman year of college approaching very fast, I can't help but to reminisce on my five years in college. Ups and downs, laughs and cries, meeting amazing people and some not so amazing lol. I wouldn't change a thing!

My freshman year I had a set schedule, go to class, go to my dorm, call my mom, and do homework. And that was it! DONT BE LIKE ME!!!!! Get out and enjoy your freshman year, get out and venture to different orgs and programs. See what your interest are and see what catches your eye! Explore, explore, explore! Enjoy being a freshman while still keep academics first!

Everybody has their opinions on Greek life, and I will say that becoming a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC was literally one of the greatest decisions and accomplishments thus far! Its so amazing! My line sisters built a bond that keeps getting stronger, they are always there to listen, to give advice, and to just laugh with and enjoy the now! With some greek organizations, you can't join when you're a freshman you can still attend events and see if thats something you'll like! Look beyond the strolls, steps, and letters! Its so much more than that. But that will have to be another post! lol IF greek life isn't for you, there are several other ways to get involved to make a difference in the community.

Being in college taught me to be resilient, there are so many ups and downs that I went through, it was my only choice! College for some is a breeze and for others its not! But my college years were some of my best years! I really came out of my shell and owned who I was or started to own who I was!  Yes in college your working towards a degree for your career. But college will sign you up for life lessons you didn't even ask for! lol Everybody's college experience is totally different while others can relate. My advice to all incoming freshman is to enjoy the ride! Don't freak out, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, learn time management and have fun! It is College!
